INTRODUCING THE FESTIVAL’S NEWEST PARTNER
TORONTO, May 25, 2011 – The Festival Management Committee (FMC) today announced its newest corporate partner. The Caribbean Tourism Organization will be partnering with the Carnival this summer.
The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), the global voice for 33 Caribbean countries, is proud to partner with the Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival. The goal of the Caribbean Tourism Organization is to showcase the wide variety of Caribbean cultures here in Toronto and encourage Canadians to visit and experience the warmth of Caribbean hospitality the next time they travel abroad.
This new partnership will include a Caribbean Village as part of the award winning Grace Tropical Rhythms food festival at Ontario Place over the Simcoe Weekend. These Caribbean themed installations are aimed at educating Canadians about authentic Caribbean culture and traditions.
About the Festival:
The Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival is an exciting three-week cultural explosion of Caribbean music, cuisine, revelry as well as visual and performing arts. Now in its 44th year, it has become a major international event and the largest cultural festival of its kind in North America. As Carnival is an international cultural phenomenon, the great metropolis of Toronto and its environs will come alive as the city explodes with the pulsating rhythms and melodies of Calypso, Soca, Reggae, Chutney, Steel Pan and Brass Bands. The Festival Management Committee is responsible for the managing and staging of North America’s largest outdoor festival.

Registration numbers make this the biggest children’s parade EVER!!!
What: Children from 15 masquerade camps (including a Toronto police Mas camp for kids band) will be in costume and marching down Jane Street. Close to 2,000 children and over 20 float trucks and sound vehicles will be taking part in the Yorkgate Mall Junior Parade. Followed by a party in the parking lot with music, performances and the winner of the Yorkgate Idol
Why: The Junior Parade is a volunteer driven parade designed to teach children about how to celebrate the Caribana Festival. Traditionally held two Saturdays before the main Caribana™ parade.

When: Kids arrive at 10.00 am. Opening ceremonies scheduled to begin at 11.00. Children will begin arriving at theYorkgate Mall by 12.30.

Toronto, ON, 30.06.2010: The volunteer organizers of this year's Scotiabank Caribana/Yorkgate Mall Junior Carnival Parade will be staging a media launch at the Yorkgate Mall. Children in Costumes, Politicians, Sponsors and Mas Bands will be at the Media Launch to update the media:
•Introduction of a New Corporate Sponsor - Mobilicity
•TTC Bus Route changes on Parade Day
•Scholarships for students in the Jane / Finch neighbourhood
•Children from two Mas Camps (Callaloo, and Fantazia International) will model costumes (all have signed photo/video releases)
•Reasons for anticipated increase in attendance
Speaking at the Media Preview will be:
•Christine Williams, District Vice-President - Scotiabank
•Mobilicity Announcement
•Denise Hererra-Jackson, Co-chair - FMC, Scotiabank Caribana
•Maria Augimeri, Toronto City Councillor for Ward9 York Centre
•James Pasternak, Trustee for Ward 5 (York Centre), and Vice Chair – Special Education Advisory Committee, Toronto District School Board
•Gordon Kaylor, Property Manager - Yorkgate Mall
The Parade will run Saturday, July 17th south along Jane Street. The parade begins at 11am at Black Creek Pioneer Village and ends at the Yorkgate Mall (Jane/Finch). There will be a huge party for the children in the Yorkgate Mall Parking Lot at the end of the parade.
